Also known as Spiderflower, this shrub is a member of the Capparaceae (Caper) family.  It is four to six feet high and grows in dense thickets.
It is a drought- tolerant and can handle temperatures -32 degrees to over 100 degrees. 



.Seeds           Dry pods

It provides good cover and shade for wildlife and both song and game birds feed on its seeds.
It was also a food source for Native Americans.


Blossoms and both green and dry pods  The green, balloon-like pods, flowers, and dried pods from last season all may found together on the bush.
